Caroline Forbes is a Vampire and best friends with Elena Gilbert, Bonnie Bennett and Stefan Salvatore. Before she turned into a Vampire she was very insecure and often obsessed about competing with Elena as she felt that she had everything and she had nothing. Caroline is a very upbeat character and tends to think of the positives in situations rather than the negatives. Caroline has dated both Matt Donovan and Tyler Lockwood. She becomes a Vampire because of Katherine Pierce killing whilst she is in the hospital recovering from a life threatening accident that left Damon giving her some of her blood so that she could heal. Reasons behind Katherine’s idea was that Caroline was to be used in part of Klaus’s ritual to break his curse to be a hybrid again, she was to be the Vampire sacrifice along with Tyler, but Damon saved them both.
Caroline’s relationship with Tyler becomes strained over the months, eventually ending because he chose to act about revenge rather than being the better man and leaving it to continue on with their relationship. She is now attending Whitmore College along with Elena and Bonnie and trying to move on with her life. She continuously bonds with Stefan, helping him get over his heartbreak over Elena and also helps him when he feels like he’s going to lose control over blood. She believes that he can be saved and remembered when he first helped her out as a Vampire.
Klaus Mikaelson is in love with her and basically informed her that he fancied her as soon as he set eyes upon her, but she constantly puts him down because of his sadistic nature and he has tried to hurt her friends in the past, mainly using Elena so that he could use her blood for his hybrids. However now she begins to feel feelings for him and is unsure what to do. After giving in and having one night of passion with Klaus, she feels dirty, yet she can’t help but feel content. When her twins were born it changed Caroline not only was she a mother, but it felt wonderful to have something she always dreamed of. Though everything came crashing when Hayley brought Hope to her as a baby and asked Caroline to take care of her until she could wake the Mikaelson's.
She is currently living in Boston under the radar from Katherine and those who wish harm to Hope. She has raised Hope for five years along with Hayley when she was available living a normal life away from all supernaturals. Giving her girls the chance to have a life that a child deserves. She considers Hope part of her family and not even Alaric knows where she is, but Caroline keeps him informed.

Caroline wants to be the center of attention, to be loved, admired, and respected. She doesn’t hesitate in airing her feelings whenever anything happens, or in lecturing other people to be kinder, more considerate, or care about innocent victims. Caroline’s ability to feel what other people feel enables her to overcome her bloodlust. She doesn’t mince words, though, when she believes someone is making the wrong choice.It’s hard for her to give up the past. Caroline hates change. She loathes it when she’s banned from Mystic Falls, and cannot celebrate all the old traditions. She is upset when too much changes all at once, or friendships fall apart. Caroline is good at participating in town events, in organizing all the details.
She puts the pieces together and realizes Elena and Damon have a sire bond. She often correctly guesses people’s inner workings and intentions but becomes frustrated when she cannot figure out what she wants.
