Katherine was born to a very wealthy Bulgarian family and she is the second doppelganger of Amara. Katherine had became pregnant out of wedlock with an unknown male and when she gave birth her child was taken from her. She was banished to England since her parents had disowned her for such an act as Kat done. Meeting Trevor Katherine was introduced to Lord Elijah and Lord Klaus who happened to admire that she looked exactly like Tatia. Katerina was attracted to Klaus, until she found out what he was, and that he was planning on using her as a sacrifice to break the the Hybrid Curse placed on him. She escaped with the help of Trevor, who had fallen in love with her. He led her pursuers astray and told her to go east to a cottage in the woods where she would be safe. When she arrived at the cottage, Katerina met a vampire named Rose.
When Rose found out that Katerina had escaped from Klaus with the moonstone, she locked her in a room and told her that she would take her back to Klaus as soon as the opportunity arose, not wanting to suffer Klaus' wrath. Katerina tried to commit suicide by stabbing herself with a knife, saying she would rather die than go back to Klaus, but Rose force-fed her some of her blood to heal her. When Rose turned her back to confront Trevor, Katerina hung herself with a length of rope. Later, when Katerina woke up in transition, Trevor asked why she did it and claimed he would have helped her live. Katherine returned to Bulgaria finding her family slaughtered thanks to Klaus punishing her for running from him.
Katherine Pierce (born Katerina Petrova) is a five hundred year old vampire who turned herself to make her running much more easier and manageable. She managed to piss off and betrayed the Original Klaus when she was human and delayed his ritual into breaking his curse, therefore she has been on the run ever since as he likes to act upon his revenge.
She turned both Stefan and Damon Salvatore in 1864 when she made the two of them fall in love with her, but in truth she loved them both also, but couldn’t stay with them because of running. She is a manipulative and destructive vampire that likes to get others to do her dirty work whilst she stays out of conflict, however she can be malicious in her nature.
She also turned Caroline Forbes into a vampire and made Tyler Lockwood kill so that he triggered his werewolf curse, so that she could offer them up for Klaus for his ritual so she that could bargain her freedom. She constantly torments her doppelganger Elena and even goes as far as breaking her up with Stefan, however the two where reunited later on.
Katherine later becomes human, due to a fight with Elena in which Elena catches her off guard and shoves the cure down her throat. She is then wanted by Silas and then goes on the run with the Salvatore’s and others for protection. She is currently finding a way to become vampire again, so she can finally carry on with her life as she currently hates being human.
Eventually finding out that after being alive for five hundred years and that takes a toll on her body, she realizes she hadn’t got long left in the world. She plots a plan to overtake her doppelganger’s body for revenge of what she did to her and also in order to survive. However it’s not long before her loved ones realize she isn’t Elena and eventually stands up to her to kill her. Katherine tries to go down with a fight but in the end loses her life, dies and then goes to hell.
After a deal made with the devil itself, Katherine is back from Hell vowing to kill those who harmed her daughter, Nadia that resulted in her death. She is currently working with Marcel on a way to bring all Mikaelsons to their knees, especially Klaus. The girl Elijah thought he knew is now gone thanks to the Scooby-Doo Gang in Mystic Falls.

Katherine as a human was charming, sophisticated. She is independent, self- prevarication. Katherine is also sarcastic, level headed. She is manipulating and able to get what she wants when she wants. Only looking out for herself Katherine would put anyone under the bus just to save herself. Though she is cunning there is still a soft side to Katherine at least a little bit. She maintains her sassiness, insensitivity, independence, pride, selfishness, and sense of self-preservation. As of now, Katherine is back to being a vampire and she is hell-bent on getting revenge on those who had crossed her once too many times and she decided to work with Marcel, but she has her own vendetta to settle-The Salvatores as well as Elena Gilbert.
